Dr. Calvin L Morris Jr.

Director of Bands

Dr.  Calvin L Morris Jr. is the current Director of Bands at South Cobb High school where he teaches skilled and music concepts that will ensure student growth and appreciation for band. He also teaches at Applied trombone at Morehouse College and he served on staff at Stephenson High school where he coached low brass students. Dr. Morris completed his Undergraduate degree in Music Education from Florida A&M University, Masters in Music Education from the University of Florida and a Doctorate in Musical Performance at the University of Georgia. Where he studied with Josh Bynum and served as a teaching assistant.

Dr.  Morris served as the Assistant Director of Bands at Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia. He served as professor of brass and helps prepare and conduct all of the performing ensembles within the Stephenson Band program. The Stephenson High school choir and members of Dr. Morris trombone studio recently performed at the Eastman School of Music.  The Stephenson Trombone choir under direction of Mr Morris has Performed at the Georgia Music Educators Association as a lobby group twice 2017 and opened the convention ceremonies in 2018. The group also performed at the Music for All festival in March 2018. Prior to Mr. Morris tenure at Stephenson High School, he served as Director of Bands at Stone Mountain High School. Where he turned the band program around, developing student musicians that gave their best to the performing ensembles within the band program. The Stone Mountain program received superior ratings in symphonic and marching bands under Mr. Morris direction.

Dr. Morris is very active in the music community. He currently serves as a Music clinician at different schools in the Metropolitan area of Atlanta, plays with the Cobb Wind Symphony who performed at the 2018 Midwest Band Clinic, and gigs around the city in the local bands and have performed with R&B artist KEM. Dr. Morris has also performed at the first President Inauguration in 2008, the Super Bowl, the Espys in California, and many other performances. Dr. Morris is a proud member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity Inc.,Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia,  Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.,  and the National Association for Music Education, and Georgia Music Educators Association.

Damien Gaiters

Associate Director of Band

Mr. Gaiters currently serves as Assistant Director of Bands at South Cobb High School. Mr. Gaiters is responsible for Brass Studies and co-directing the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Marching Band, and Jazz Band of South Cobb High School of Austell, GA. A native of Calera, AL and alumnus of Calera High School and Jacksonville State University, Mr. Gaiters, graduated with a B.A. in Music Education all while being immersed in as many ensembles and societies as possible, including the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference (CMENC), Alabama Music Educators Association, Georgia Music Educators Association, and National Association for Music Educators (NAfME).

Mr. Gaiters has served as Director of Bands at Douglas County High School, New Manchester High School, and Lithia Springs High. He also served as the New Manchester High School Fine Arts Magnet Director and the Douglas County School System Band Resource Teacher, while serving as a a clinician, adjudicator, and providing private instrumental and conducting lessons.

His present affiliations also include Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America.
